Two weeks ago I had the opportunity to attend the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF) Indiana Gala in downtown Indianapolis. This was my first time attending the gala, so I was not sure what to expect. It was quite an elegant affair; men were dressed in tuxes and women were dressed in fancy dresses. The night started out with a silent auction, cocktail party, four course dinner, live auction, and entertainment.
Coming to the gala with a technological background, the thing that I was most impressed with was the way they used technology to promote and encourage donations for a great cause. Upon arriving at the gala, each guest was given an iPod Touch with a software application that contained all of the silent auction items. You could easily search, track, and bid on items. This hands-on, technology based approach made it easier for people to participate in the auction, which helped JDRF raise more money to “Fight for the Cure.”
With over 860 guests in attendance you can imagine the impact that a small hand held device like the iPod Touch had on the amount of money JDRF was able to raise to find a cure for Juvenile Diabetes. Because the JDRF is one of eImagine’s favored charities, I felt honored to represent our company by participating in the JDRF Gala with Joel Russell.
